North Dakota Trip

A couple pretty photos from Pinterest before getting to my less exciting ones:

I did see some abandoned churches
from afar, they are so neat!

A photo on my way out of town, the countryside was prettier than I expected!
(I wrote most of this post after we got back but didn't finish so it's a few weeks old).
We left on Easter evening around 8:30 p.m. Jason's ride back was having car trouble and we had to get him back in time for work Tuesday morning, so before I knew what was coming out of my mouth I said "I'll just drive you up"! Since Jason's been there I've been wanting to see it, and this seemed like a good time because Wyatt was out of preschool this week for spring break. It was so spur of the moment, I stuck a basket of dirty clothes in the car and grabbed whatever I could and left. Luckily, I thought to grab some ramen and other food that would travel, which was great because we were eating in 90% of the time.
Our first day there I met another Mom with young kids at Walmart who kindly offered to show me one of the local parks. There happened to be an Easter egg hunt going on and face painting with this group called Mothers of Preschoolers (Minot MOPS). Wyatt had a shark face painted on, cute.
Sunset from Jason's apartment balcony
The rest of the week, we went to the local library, bowling alley, Mcdonalds (huge, massive playland), mall, and cooked dinner every night in the little kitchenette in the hotel room. It felt like a luxury to see Jason at lunch and after work each night! Wyatt had a lot of fun, but also missed home and kept asking when we were going back.
Scandinavian Heritage Park, I wanted to
see this but the weather got too cold and windy.
(Photo from Pinterest).
All in all, I'm so glad we went. The drive home was really hard, we didn't stop other than gas and potty breaks, and then when it got late I slept in the car for an hour or so.
Driving back into Utah, it seemed much bigger and more cosmopolitan than I ever would've thought! It's good to be back home.

Missing Mr. W

~Otters hold hands while sleeping to avoid being separated~
An update. Jason is still working in North Dakota, and it's feels like rather than adjusting to it, it's getting harder and harder. It's hard to know how to function when we're divided up like this. We are supporting two households, which makes it expensive to live this way financially. More than that, it wears you out emotionally and mentally. I know in the big scheme of things there are harder situations/problems than this, but knowing that doesn't help reduce the wear and tear we're both feeling. I told Jason it feels like I'm trying to walk with just one leg. Hey, we've been together 22 years! (Yes, we were only 12 when we met!)

Happy 40th Jason

Jason's Tres Leches cake and his victory pose after successfully putting out the fire on the cake :) Today is his actual birthday but we had his party on Saturday night.

Fountain

Pics added 5/28/09- I could look at the fish all day. Ahhh! I always knew I wanted a front porch and now I know why. They are so relaxing.
The rest of the post was from 5/21/09: Just an update. Jason wasn't feeling well for a week or two, also he had fallen and cut his head open which required staples. Then Wyatt caught something, which I thought I would've already had, but now I'm sick too! You're not supposed to be sick in the spring!
So I'm not really blogging or getting on facebook much, but before today I've been working on landscaping around the fountain Jason built in our front yard all week.
I had no idea how hard it would be to dig in that dirt! I think I grew some new muscles. But it's almost done, we just need to mulch.
It's so fun, I love to be out there and check out my goldfish (the indoor ones I've had in a tank for five years!) Jason also bought 3 koi that are smaller than the goldfish. I'll post a pic soon, when I'm not sick!

Wyatt's gloves

This is kind of crooked because Jason took it with his phone from the front seat. I guess Wyatt put these on while they were driving and thought he was pretty cool.

Fishing & First Steps

We took a drive up to Strawberry to look at the awesome fall colors in the canyon and do a little fishing. Jason caught a fish and I chased Wyatt around. He's been taking steps on his own this past week and it won't be long now until he's walking! Whoa.

Family Portraits

It's only taken about six or seven years but we finally had new family portraits taken! Crystal did a great job. I love Wyatt's expression while sitting on Jason's head pulling his hair.
